Dwayne Douglas Johnson, popularly known as "The Rock," is an American actor, producer, and retired professional wrestler. He was born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California, to a Samoan mother and a Black Nova Scotian father.
Growing up, Johnson's family moved around a lot, as his father was a professional wrestler too. Johnson attended various schools, including Freedom High School in Pennsylvania, where he started playing football. He later went on to play college football at the University of Miami, where he won a national championship in 1991.
After college, Johnson decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a professional wrestler. He began training with his father and later signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), in 1996. Johnson quickly rose to fame, adopting the moniker "The Rock" and becoming one of the WWF's most popular wrestlers.
During his wrestling career, Johnson won numerous championships, including the WWF/WWE Championship multiple times. He was also a part of several high-profile feuds with other wrestlers, including Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H.
In addition to wrestling, Johnson began to pursue a career in acting. He made his debut in the 2001 film "The Mummy Returns," playing the character of the Scorpion King. He later reprised the role in a spin-off film, "The Scorpion King." From there, Johnson went on to star in several successful films, including the "Fast and Furious" franchise, "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," and "Moana."
Aside from his acting and wrestling careers, Johnson is also a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. He has launched several successful businesses, including a production company and a line of clothing and athletic shoes. He is also known for his charitable work, particularly with children's charities.
